The air fryer has become an essential appliance in many kitchens. It allows you to prepare crispy dishes with little oil while reducing cooking time.

However, after several uses, grease residue and burnt food can accumulate in the basket, the bowl, and even on the heating element. Without regular maintenance, these deposits can cause unpleasant odors, smoke, and reduce the appliance’s performance.

Fortunately, there’s a simple method to thoroughly clean your air fryer with a few products that are readily available at home.

Ingredients Needed
Hot water
A few drops of dish soap
1 to 2 tablespoons of baking soda
A soft brush or a non-abrasive sponge
A clean microfiber cloth
Step 1: Unplug the appliance

Before any cleaning, unplug the air fryer and let it cool completely. This precaution helps prevent any risk of burns or accidents.

Step 2: Clean the basket

Remove the basket and the bowl.

Fill them with hot water, add a few drops of dish soap and a tablespoon of baking soda.

Let it soak for 15 to 20 minutes to soften grease and food residue.

Then gently scrub with a soft brush or a non-abrasive sponge, and rinse thoroughly.

Step 3: Clean the heating element

Carefully turn the fryer upside down to access the heating element.

Using a slightly damp cloth or a small, soft brush, remove any grease deposits.

If any residue remains, apply a little baking soda mixed with a few drops of water to form a paste. Let it sit for a few minutes before gently cleaning.
